- About 'Dasarath Rangasala Stadium'(Home ground of Nepali team)

The National football team of Nepal is governed by the ANFA(All Nepal Football Association).A member of AFC(Asian Football Confederation). National team plays their matches and games in 'Dasarath Rangasala Stadium', held in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu. It is the home ground of Nepalese team , a multi-purpose stadium which has holding capacity of 65,000 peoples. It is the biggest stadium of Nepal. It was named after 'Dasarath Chand' one of the Martyrs of Nepal. Many local and international games are held in this stadium as well with Concerts and other programs and shows.

- About History and Origins of Football in Nepal.

Origins: Football in Nepal had been a famous sport as in start of early twenties. In 1921, during the 'Rana Dynasty' many clubs were formed and several domestic tournaments were organized such as 'Tribhuvan Challenge Shield' , Ram-Janaki Cup, Open tournaments etc. In 1951, the ANFA (All Nepal Football Association) was founded, and this became the major formation of the Nepalese National Football team.In 1963, Nepal appeared on their first international game in the 'Aga Khan Gold Cup', the predecessor( gateway to) of the 'President's Gold Cup', 'Asia Champion Clubs Tournament' and AFC Champions League or Asian Club Championship(AFC Champions League's old name.)

Football Clubs were supposed to join the tournament, But Nepal was there with their National team instead of clubs. ANFA flew to Dhaka, Bangladesh with 18-man squad, to play their first foreign match/ International tournament. Nepal was in group 'D' with 3 other teams and their opponents were 'Western Railway', 'Dhaka Wonders' and 'Dhaka Police Club'. Nepalese team played their first match with 'Western Railway', a Pakistani team/club which was held in 'Bangabandhu National Stadium'. However Nepal lost the match with score of '0-7'. Two days later, Nepalese team played their second match with 'Dhaka Wonders', a local Bangladeshi team/club where they were beaten with the same score of '0-7'. After two massive loss, Nepal was sure to be knocked out from the preliminary round. The final game was against 'Dhaka Police Club', where Nepal manage to win the game with a single goal, which was from 'Prakash Bikram Shah'. With this goal, which took place in 19 minute, Prakash Bikram Shah became the First Nepali to score in the foreign soil.
In 1970, Nepal became a member of FIFA. After two years of membership Nepal joined the AFC(Asian Football Confederation). After joining the 'AFC', Nepalese National team played their first international match on October 13,1972 where they lost '2-6' to the 'China PR'. And after a long decade, with lots of ups and downs Nepali National team are in this position.

This is the current squad of Nepal. And this all players are from the same squad, which managed to win the '2016 Bangabandhu Gold Cup' and '12th South Asian Games(SAG),2016'.

- 2016 Bangabandhu Gold Cup(which was won by Nepali National team)

Bangladesh had hosted 2016, Bangabandhu Gold Cup from 8 January - 22 January. The Bangabandhu Gold Cup or Bangabandhu Cup is an international association football tournament organised by the 'Bangladeshi Football Federation' as a tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Eight teams from AFC (Asian Football Confederation) participated in this tournament 2016.Prize money for the winner was 'US$ 50,000' and for runner-up 'US$ 25,000' and the live broadcaster were 'Channel 9' and 'Bangladesh Television (BTV)'. Total 15 matches were played in whole tournament 2016, all the matches were played in two different venues in 'Bangabandhu National Stadium' in Dhaka, Bangladesh and in 'Shamsul Huda Stadium' in Jessore.

Final positions: Nepal and Bahrain U-23 managed to reach the final of 'Bangabandhu Gold Cup' in 22 'January 2016 held in Bangabandhu National Stadium' Dhaka, Bangladesh. Nepal defeats Bahrain U-23 in final by '3-0' and lifts the trophy for the first time. After 23 years Nepal was finally able to win any title of the competition.Striker, Bimal Gharti Magar strikes his 2nd goal in tournament and opens the first score for Nepalese Team within 5 minutes. Bishal Rai scores 2nd goal for the final match for Nepal in second half, on the assist of Anjan Bista.In the injury time, the rising player of Nepal Nawayug Shrestha scores the third one.And with this goal he managed to win the 'High scorer award' with 4 goals in whole tournament.At final Nepal leads Bahrain by '3-0' and lift the trophy.Bimal Gharti Magar was hero of the final match and lift the trophy of 'Man of the Match' in final. And 'Best Player of the Tournament' trophy was lifted by striker Nawayug Shrestha.

- '12th' South Asian Games(SAG), 2016.

12th South Asian Games(SAG) was hosted by India in February 2016.Many games were held in whole tournaments.Nepal beats India in Final of men's football and won the gold in South Asian Games (SAG) which was held in Guwahati, India. In final match India took the lead in the 31st minute with Penalty which was scored by 'Holicharan Nazary', indian player. India earned a penalty kick after Udanta was fouled by Ananta Tamang inside the D-box which put the home side 1-0 up. Nepal replied strongly in the second half. Nepal were very better in the early part of the second half as they got some good chances.In the 66th minute, Nepal got a free kick and 'Prakash Budhathoki' curled it to the left side and scored a fantastic goal.India was uder pressure, Nepalese team were attacking a lot but wasn't able to score and many fine chances were not utilized. At the time of 72 minute eventual winning goal came from the rising star of Nepal, Nawayug Shrestha.India could not equalised the score and Nepal won the final match with score of '2-1' against India at 'Indira Gandhi Stadium' held in Guwahati,India.Thus, India were settled for the silver, while Bangladesh took the Bronze after defeating Maldives via penalty shoot-out in the third-place play-off.
This was the major titles and trophies which was won by Nepalese Football Team in 2016.
